Tip of the Mitt Wine Route 🍷
Explore the wineries, vineyards, and cideries of Northern Michigan's Tip of the Mitt from Charlevoix and Petoskey to Harbor Springs, Boyne Valley, Alanson, and beyond.
This is Northern Michigan's most diverse wine region. Where the Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas follow a single road with stops clustered close together, the Tip of the Mitt spreads across Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim, Cheboygan, and Otsego counties. The wineries here range from polished vineyard estates to farm-based tasting rooms, maple wine producers, and family cideries tucked into the back roads of the north.
It rewards explorers. The best way to experience this region is to pick a cluster Petoskey, Charlevoix, the Boyne Valley, or the Inland Waterway corridor and let the stops come to you.

Planning Your Tip of the Mitt Wine Day
This region is larger and more spread out than Leelanau or Old Mission. The key is to cluster your stops geographically rather than trying to cover the whole region in one day. The three most logical clusters are:
Petoskey cluster — Mackinaw Trail, Petoskey Farms, Maple Moon, FarmHouse Vineyards, Gabriel Farms, Resort Pike, Rudbeckia, Walloon Lake Winery
Charlevoix cluster — Blu Dot Farm, Folklor Wine & Cider, Lost Cellars, The Cellars at Royal Farms
Inland corridor — Crooked Vine (Alanson), Seasons of the North (Indian River), Cellar 1914 (Central Lake), Boyne Valley (Boyne Falls), Happy Days and Nights (Harbor Springs)
A comfortable day is 3 to 5 stops. Check hours before you go — several of these wineries have seasonal or limited hours and some require reservations.
